On Bastille Day, July 14th, 2016, a terrorist attacked people strolling on the boardwalk in Nice, France by driving a lorry into the crowds. On December 19th, 2016, a similar approach was taken in Berlin and most recently in London, England. After the Nice attack, a school group from Nanaimo, BC who were in Nice at the time of the attack were sent home. Reports suggested many of the students were unhappy with the decision. Was the school right to decide to bring the children home? On the face of it, absolutely. But what was the risk of them being attacked in Nice after the initial attack? We at EBI ask that question continuously. EBI Educational Group is now working on a way for parents to feel safe about their children when they travel. Stay tuned for its launch in the near future.
